They maintain our furnace and a/c, and on the rare occasion we have a problem, respond quickly. When it was time to replace the furnace, we chose them. What is a ductless mini-split system?

A ductless mini-split pairs an outdoor compressor with one or more indoor air handlers, connected by a small line set instead of ductwork. Each indoor unit conditions its own space, so you control temperature room by room rather than heating or cooling the whole house at once.

Do I need ductwork for a mini-split?

No. That is the point of the system. Because refrigerant lines run through a small opening rather than full duct runs, we can add heating and cooling to a room without opening up walls and ceilings to install duct.

Can a ductless system heat my home in winter?

Yes. Ductless systems provide both heating and cooling, so the same equipment that cools a room in July heats it in January. We will talk through how the system will perform for your specific space during the estimate.

What rooms are mini-splits best for?

The spaces central systems struggle with: bonus rooms over a garage, sunrooms, finished basements and attics, home additions, converted garages, workshops, and any upstairs room that runs hot while the rest of the house is comfortable.

What is the difference between single-zone and multi-zone?

A single-zone system pairs one outdoor unit with one indoor air handler, which suits a single problem room. A multi-zone system runs several indoor units off one outdoor unit, so you can condition multiple rooms independently on one system.
